Schibsted invests millions in Add Health Media

Add Health Media (AHM) is raising an investment of SEK 20 million from the media group Schibsted in a phase to further strengthen its operations and position itself as the dominant media player in medicine and health. The investment is invested in e-health companies in the start-up phase and contributes to increasing reach and strengthening the DOKTORN and Praktisk Medicin brands. AHM has made around ten early-stage investments in healthcare companies. At the same time, AHM has a for-profit media business and is behind one of Sweden’s most successful sites for medicine and health – Doktorn.com. The company is now receiving an investment from Schibsted, which means that they can increase the investment rate further. – Being able to link Schibsted’s media’s reach to our brands means that we can take great strides towards becoming dominant in health and medicine. Schibsted reaches 6 million Swedes per week, which contributes to us being able to reach the majority of important patient groups with messages and knowledge, for example, says Brodde Wetter, CEO of AHM. Today, the business is based on two legs; media operations and investments in startups linked to the health sector, a structure that is also similar to Schibsted’s. Schibsted, on the other hand, will be able to give impetus to existing and future holdings within AHM, through marketing and other synergies that the Schibsted Group enables, for the development of the entire health tech area. – Both we who work at Add Health Media and our board have extensive experience from the e-health industry. Together with our strong media platform, we have been able to help entrepreneurs scale their digital business. With Schibsted behind us, we will be able to accelerate the companies’ growth significantly, says Johan Bloom, founder and major owner of AHM. Health tech has for some time been a priority area for Schibsted and the company has so far invested in the digital psychotherapy service Ahum. Now Schibsted Growth is taking the next step in the investment. With the investment in Add Health Media, they link expertise and collaborations within the media that only focus on health and medicine and create synergies with the companies in which AHM has already invested. – Health is a sought-after area to invest in, but it is also one of the most complex industries to enter, as a high degree of specialist competence is required.
