Curus reinvests in Knodd as it scales up

2022/09/27

Knodd dominates Swedish digital child health care and has nearly 10,000 consultations per month. Now their offering is broadening to include child psychologists. Knodd raises SEK 30 million to scale up and go international.

Curus has been an investor since the first seed round in 2019 and is now reinvesting in their A-round led by Orkla Venture and First Venture. Family office Linbo Invest also joined this round.

– We know that strong brands are important and Knodd has quickly taken the position as the leading player in digital child healthcare in Sweden. When you have a strong brand, it is easier to broaden your offering within the segment and therefore we believe strongly in Knodd, says Charlotta Gylche, Investment Manager at Orkla Ventures.

Knodd has the highest rating among all digital health care providers on the Appstore and is now aiming to both broaden its focus to pregnancy to reach expectant parents earlier and start offering contact with child psychologists. Founders Jakob Hedlund and Josefin Svegborn have been very focused on delivering a service that provides reassurance to parents of young children.

– We see great potential to offer more services in child health care and around pregnancy. We are also now looking at which new countries might be suitable to enter. We have a winning concept that supports both the family with children and relieves the burden on the health care system. Of all the visits we have, only a few are referred to the emergency ward, which is a big saving for society, says Jakob Hedlund, CEO and founder of Knodd.

The main owners of Knodd are the founders Jakob and Josefin and the investment company Curus. The plan now is to broaden the offering and look internationally.

– I’m impressed with Jakob and Josefin for following their vision to offer a service where parents feel they get help quickly and feel safe in contact with experienced paediatric nurses and paediatricians. It is exciting what Knodd can now achieve with more strong investors as partners, says Johan Bloom, CEO of Curus.
